Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector Review

The Optoma HD20 and bringing quality projection to the home

Light weight, sturdily designed and flexible, The Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector takes HD viewing to the next level.  Like other DLP projectors, the HD20 DLP Projector uses BrilliantColor technology which uses six separate colors to produce images.  Along with 1080p resolution and 1700 ANSI brightness lumens, the HD20 can deliver high image quality and resolution while being compatible with most computer formats.   It can also accept common video inputs up to 1080p.  The projection lamp is tested to last for 3000 to 4000 hours depending on mode settings, is filter free to prevent dust accumulation and comes with a rapid shutdown feature that saves energy.

This HD projector is received generally well by users.  The 1080p HDMI can deliver clear, bright colored images in most screen resolutions.  But in other areas, the projector can be a bit lacking.  There aren’t limited placement options, leading to users needing to manually move the unit around to get a good screen projection and the many video calibration options can make calibrating difficult.  Also, image processing still needs work, as it can be substantially lacking in defining darker colors, fast motion screens and other faults including motion blurs.

While it lacks the image processing capabilities and other enhancing features of the more expensive projectors, for a unit less than $1000, the HD20 DLP Projector delivers excellent color output and brightness levels, true 1080p HDMI and great performance at a very affordable price.  It is a sure welcome addition to the budget conscious who would still like to enjoy a good viewing experience.
