Optoma DS317 Review

Quality review on the user friendly Optoma DS317

A high quality, user friendly yet affordable projector—that is what Optoma DS317 2600 Lumen SVGA DLP Multimedia Projector aims to be all about.  The Optoma DS317 is a DLP based projector uses BrilliantColor technology from Texas Instruments, combined with high brightness and contrast levels of 3000:1 to produce excellent image quality.  2600 ANSHI lumens also mean that it can deliver projections clearly up to 4000 hours of lamp life.  The unit was designed durable, light weight and filter-free to prevent dust accumulation.

As with most minimal cost projectors, the Optoma DS317 is an all around unit that is easy to transport and to set up.  It lives up to its user friendly guarantee for most users with its convenient remote that can easily direct most of its functions.  It projects a clear cut image on most surfaces, but image adjusting can be a problem because the unit cannot zoom in on images manually, and the zoom function can be slow to respond.

The image doesn’t project well in brighter lit rooms, and while image clarity is good, it’s not HD level and will not project clear image from a source on the video input unless the source itself is very high end.

But considering everything, in terms of performance and convenience, theOptoma DS317 is a solid good deal.  Despite its lack of features and image adjustment options, this system is well worth its price, being durable and economic yet still delivering good quality projections any time, be it for an everyday presentation or family DVD movies.
