A Take behind the Onkyo TX-SR608 Home Theater Receiver
Onkyo has recently made improvements on their receivers to accept 3D signals from the newly designed Blu-ray discs, and so far, the Onkyo TX-SR608 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver has become one of the most popular in the bunch.
The Onkyo TX-SR608 comes with six HMDI input ports that can be connected to consoles and 3D HDTVs. Video processing is supported by the Faroudja DCDi Cinema which is capable of 1080p video upscaling and removing jagged edges on videos for clearer picture production.
The excellent audio delivery of Onkyo receivers is what has earned the loyalty of its buyers, and the TX-SR608 is no exception. Sound production for the unit is supported by the Dolby Digital surround sound system and the Audyssey digital sound with its sound enhancing technologies suite. These enhancements have added depth and a more realistic appeal to surround sound in a wider soundstage, even through only a few speakers.
Users were not disappointed at the sound delivery brought by this receiver, which was usually described as smooth and clear high definition even at loud volumes. What disappointed some users was the unimpressive video processing, especially issues with DirecTV 3D not receiving 3D signals automatically. And while menu options have been improved from previous models, having sound options available on the remote would have been better.
But considering the unit’s reliability and overall performance, the Onkyo TX-SR608 is still an overall winner. After all, most buyers usually are won over by Onkyo’s quality sound production, and this unit is good at just that.
